A little about us
We're very proud to have been the first cat-only veterinary practice in the UK. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we've been caring for cats and kittens throughout the Lothian area since 1995. Browse our website to meet our staff and find out about the services we can offer you and your cat. Our useful cat information section lets you know about other local cat services such as catteries and catsitters. Our Facebook and Twitter pages give you up to date information about the clinic along with new developments in cat health and welfare.
ONLINE BOOKING / REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUEST NOW AVAILABLE
You are now able to request online:
Video consultations: Make an appointment via the online booking system and you will receive a confirmation email containing a secure link to your video consult. NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANY APPS. Just click on the link at the time of your appointment. You can easily cancel or reschedule the appointment via your confirmation email too.
These should work on any device with a camera and microphone - e.g. mobile phone, laptop, tablet or ipad. Please be aware that many PC's do not have in built microphones and cameras.
Repeat Prescription requests: You are now able to request ongoing medications via the online booking system. In order to allow this you will need to select an 'appointment time' - please choose the first date/time available and let us know which medications you need and how many of each in the 'reason for appointment' box. This will notify the clinic of your request immediately and allow us to begin processing it - this is NOT the time that your prescription will be ready to collect. AS EVER PLEASE ALLOW 48 HOURS for us to organise your medications, some of these may need to be ordered in.
If there are any problems with your requests, one of our team will call you to discuss.

Visit the indoor cat initiative for advice on how to make this easier for you and your cat.
In line with both government and RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) advice, we are able to CONTINUE TO OFFER TREATMENT FOR URGENT and ESSENTIAL cases whilst also being available to dispense your cat's usual medication.
Changes effective from Tuesday 14th April 2020:
With the COVID movement restrictions likely to be in place for a period of time still, the British Veterinary Association has offered new guidance for vets aimed at minimising the impact of lock down on our animal's health and welfare. These changes must still be balanced with the very real need to minimise movement/contact between people. Thus:
The clinic WILL continue to be open Monday- Saturdays as usual (though currently closing at 6pm weekdays) offering video and telephone consultations throughout the day for both urgent and more routine situations. This gives our vets an opportunity to triage any more urgent cases which may then require treatment at the clinic, to offer advice for new and ongoing cases and potentially prescribe medications which may be collected for administering at home.
If you are at all unsure, our reception staff will be more than happy to help you decide if your cat's case warrants a visit to the clinic or video/telephone consultation for any reason.
Vets Now Emergency service will continue to be available when The Cat Clinic is closed.
We will be posting regularly on our Facebook page to keep you up to date with how COVID-19 is affecting things within the practice!
"Always excellent treatment, sympathetic and kind and I'm grateful for all your help"
"One of the main reasons I will not leave Edinburgh is that I know I won’t find a better veterinary practice elsewhere."
"The Cat Clinic in Edinburgh is simply the best cat vet I have ever used. Every consultation has been calm and time was taken to get to know our cats, not just 'sort them out', which has made a huge difference to the anxiety the cats feel during the consultation. The Veterinary Cat Clinic have provided our cats with great routine and emergency care and I cannot recommend them highly enough."
"I'm always happy with the service I receive, the vets listen to any concerns I might have and even though there are vets far closer to where I live now I'm sticking with these!"
