A little about us

Cat Clinic logo
We're very proud to have been the first cat-only veterinary practice in the UK. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we've been caring for cats and kittens throughout the Lothian area since 1995. Browse our website to meet our staff and find out about the services we can offer you and your cat. Our useful cat information section lets you know about other local cat services such as catteries and catsitters. Our Facebook and Twitter pages give you up to date information about the clinic along with new developments in cat health and welfare.

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT / ORDER MEDICATION
We have once again opened our online appointment booking for vaccination and nail trim appointments for current clients of the clinic.

Repeat medication requests continue to be available via the online booking system for returning customers.

If you are not currently registered with the clinic, please contact our reception team on 0131 4667110 to organise registration and any appointments you may then need.
You are now able to request online:
  • Annual vaccination appointments This appointment is suitable for adult cats requiring an annual vaccine or health check. If your cat/kitten needs to start it's initial vaccination course, please contact reception directly on 0131 4667110
  • Nail trim appointments
  • Repeat prescription medication  you can use this option to order ongoing medication for your cat. The clinic vets will assess  and authorise these requests on a case by case basis. Please select the FIRST available 'appointment' time. TYPICALLY PRESCRIPTIONS WILL BE READY TO COLLECT 48 HOURS AFTER they have been requested.
Repeat Prescription requests:
You are now able to request ongoing medications via the online booking system. In order to allow this you will need to select an 'appointment time' - please choose the first date/time available and let us know which medications you need and how many of each in the 'reason for appointment' box.   This will notify the clinic of your request immediately and allow us to begin processing it - this is NOT the time that your prescription will be ready to collect. AS EVER PLEASE ALLOW 48 HOURS for us to organise your medications, some of these may need to be ordered in.
We will only contact you if there are any problems with your request. Otherwise the prescription will be readied for collection by 48 hours after the request.

Visiting us

Often just getting your cat into a carrier feels like a huge challenge! This useful video shows a number of different techniques to help with this. It's worth rememebering that any time and effort put into geting your cat used to it's carrier on a day to day basis will pay dividends - if you've got the space, tie open the door and allow your cat to use it as a bed.

  COVID-19 LATEST

AS OF 2ND MAY 2022

Restrictions in Scotland due to the Covid 19 pandemic are to ease from the end of April 2022. As we are all very excited for this transition back to 'normal' life, we are also aware there are many people still wary of these changes. We understand that the easing of restrictions is eagerly anticipated but we must still take the risks of catching Covid 19 seriously.

From Monday 2nd May 2022 we will start a gradual transition to being open as 'normal'.
We will now begin to allow clients back in to the waiting area and consult rooms during their visits if they wish. We are however, more than happy to still operate remotely if clients prefer. These are welcome changes but we still have protocols in place to help protect clients and staff accordingly.
Firstly, only ONE client can enter the consult room during the appointment. Clients are welcome in without face coverings in the reception area but will be asked to wear a face mask when entering the consult rooms. If you do not have a face mask then we will have some for sale at reception. Clients will not be able to enter the consult rooms without a mask (unless proof of exemption). Vets and assistants will always wear a face mask whilst in the consult rooms. When entering the consult rooms, clients will be asked to take a seat and must remain seated throughout the consult.
Secondly, the front door will still be kept locked at all times to help with foot traffic. If the waiting area is full then we will ask clients to wait outside or in their cars until a space frees up. Please also (where possible) come to appointments with only ONE person. This allows more room in the waiting area. Again, only ONE client may enter the consult rooms with their cat.
We will keep windows open to help with air flow (we have safety procedures in place that prevent your cats from escaping out these windows)!

*Please do not visit the clinic if you are feeling unwell. If you need veterinary advice in this situation, please contact our reception team on 0131 4667110 for advice on how to proceed*

We are excited to see clients back in The Cat Clinic and for you all to see our smiling faces!
Please click here for full details.

Vets Now Emergency service will continue to be available when The Cat Clinic is closed.

We will be posting regularly on our Facebook page to keep you up to date with how COVID-19 is affecting things within the practice!

We'd like to thank all our wonderful clients for their continued co-operation & support throughout these trying times & we hope to resume normal services as soon as we possibly can.

Client Comments:

"Always excellent treatment, sympathetic and kind and I'm grateful for all your help"
"One of the main reasons I will not leave Edinburgh is that I know I won’t find a better veterinary practice elsewhere."
"The Cat Clinic in Edinburgh is simply the best cat vet I have ever used. Every consultation has been calm and time was taken to get to know our cats, not just 'sort them out', which has made a huge difference to the anxiety the cats feel during the consultation. The Veterinary Cat Clinic have provided our cats with great routine and emergency care and I cannot recommend them highly enough."
"I'm always  happy with the service I  receive, the vets listen to any concerns I might have and even though there are vets far closer to where I live now I'm sticking with these!"
"Thank you very much for your very efficient checkup of Zizu today. You’ve obviously worked on getting a good pre-visit system under way, but also from reception to vet, it was such good service today."
