A little about us
We're very proud to have been the first cat-only veterinary practice in the UK. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we've been caring for cats and kittens throughout the Lothian area since 1995. Browse our website to meet our staff and find out about the services we can offer you and your cat. Our useful cat information section lets you know about other local cat services such as catteries and catsitters. Our Facebook and Twitter pages give you up to date information about the clinic along with new developments in cat health and welfare.
ONLINE BOOKING / REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUEST NOW AVAILABLE
You are now able to request online:
Video consultations: * *Due to lack of uptake recently and the need for our clinicians hands-on in clinic, we have decided to stop running video consults for the time being. Our reception team are still able to organise phone consults for relevant cases if preferred **
Repeat Prescription requests: You are now able to request ongoing medications via the online booking system. In order to allow this you will need to select an 'appointment time' - please choose the first date/time available and let us know which medications you need and how many of each in the 'reason for appointment' box. This will notify the clinic of your request immediately and allow us to begin processing it - this is NOT the time that your prescription will be ready to collect. AS EVER PLEASE ALLOW 48 HOURS for us to organise your medications, some of these may need to be ordered in.
If there are any problems with your requests, one of our team will call you to discuss.
Often just getting your cat into a carrier feels like a huge challenge! This useful video shows a number of different techniques to help with this. It's worth rememebering that any time and effort put into geting your cat used to it's carrier on a day to day basis will pay dividends - if you've got the space, tie open the door and allow your cat to use it as a bed.
Visit the indoor cat initiative for advice on how to help reduce your cat's stresses buring travel.

COVID-19 UPDATE 6th OCTOBER 2021
We are very aware how keen many of you are to be allowed to accompany your cats into our consulting rooms once again. We are similarly keen – it would be lovely to see you all in person again – and we have been working hard to ensure this can happen as soon as COVID-19 allows.
We’ve had our waiting room divided into smaller booths since early in the pandemic and have recently made steps to improve ventilation throughout the building with the introduction of cat safe window screens and the purchase of industrial volumes of hand gel.
We had hoped to be able to allow clients back into the clinic very soon, but a recent spikes in COVID cases has meant we’ve taken the decision to delay this.
The nature of working in a clinic with such small patients means that it’s impossible for much of our team to keep a social distance throughout a working day and a 20 minute consult with clients in the consulting room would leave us in the position of having to self isolate as close contacts if they subsequently developed COVID.
We are not a big enough team to run the clinic if vets, nurses and reception staff were asked to isolate meaning closing the clinic altogether for those 2 weeks.
We’ve come this far, always having been there to look after your cats despite the difficulties, it seems prudent to take our time with these last few steps.
We’ll keep you updated but rest assured we are working towards welcoming you back as soon as is safe.
Keep well everyone!
If visiting the practice, clients will be encouraged to wait outside the building e.g in their own cars (though we do have a small segregated waiting room area if necessary). Clients will NOT be allowed in the consulting room still except in exceptional circumstances.

Vets Now Emergency service will continue to be available when The Cat Clinic is closed.
We will be posting regularly on our Facebook page to keep you up to date with how COVID-19 is affecting things within the practice!
We'd like to thank all our wonderful clients for their continued co-operation & support throughout these trying times & we hope to resume normal services as soon as we possibly can.
"Always excellent treatment, sympathetic and kind and I'm grateful for all your help"
"One of the main reasons I will not leave Edinburgh is that I know I won’t find a better veterinary practice elsewhere."
"The Cat Clinic in Edinburgh is simply the best cat vet I have ever used. Every consultation has been calm and time was taken to get to know our cats, not just 'sort them out', which has made a huge difference to the anxiety the cats feel during the consultation. The Veterinary Cat Clinic have provided our cats with great routine and emergency care and I cannot recommend them highly enough."
"I'm always happy with the service I receive, the vets listen to any concerns I might have and even though there are vets far closer to where I live now I'm sticking with these!"
"Thank you very much for your very efficient checkup of Zizu today. You’ve obviously worked on getting a good pre-visit system under way, but also from reception to vet, it was such good service today."
