A little about us

Cat Clinic logo
We're very proud to have been the first cat-only veterinary practice in the UK. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we've been caring for cats and kittens throughout the Lothian area since 1995. Browse our website to meet our staff and find out about the services we can offer you and your cat. Our useful cat information section lets you know about other local cat services such as catteries and catsitters. Our Facebook and Twitter pages give you up to date information about the clinic along with new developments in cat health and welfare.

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
ONLINE BOOKING / REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUEST NOW AVAILABLE
You are now able to request online:
  • video consultation appointments  Video consultations can be used to assess both new and ongoing conditions and have the benefit of our vets being able to see areas of concern on your cat in real time (assuming your cat isn't too camera shy!)
  • annual vaccination and nail trim appointments **NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE DUE TO TIER 5 COVID RESTRICTIONS**  We have a small number of these appointments available to book online. Please contact the clinic if you are unable to find an appointment that suits. (These appointments are only available to returning clients).
  • repeat prescription medication  you can use this option to request ongoing medication for your cat. The clinic vets will assess  and authorise these requests on a case by case basis. Please select the FIRST available 'appointment' time. TYPICALLY PRESCRIPTIONS WILL BE READY TO COLLECT 48 HOURS AFTER they have been requested.

Video consultations:   Make an appointment via the online booking system and you will receive a confirmation email containing a secure link to your video consult. NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANY APPS.  Just click on the link at the time of your appointment.  You can easily cancel or reschedule the appointment via your confirmation email too.

These should work on any device with a camera and microphone - e.g. mobile phone, laptop, tablet or ipad. Please be aware that many PC's do not have in built microphones and cameras.

Repeat Prescription requests:  You are now able to request ongoing medications via the online booking system. In order to allow this you will need to select an 'appointment time' - please choose the first date/time available and let us know which medications you need and how many of each in the 'reason for appointment' box.   This will notify the clinic of your request immediately and allow us to begin processing it - this is NOT the time that your prescription will be ready to collect. AS EVER PLEASE ALLOW 48 HOURS for us to organise your medications, some of these may need to be ordered in.
If there are any problems with your requests, one of our team will call you to discuss.

  COVID-19 LATEST

Update: 5th January 2021
The 'Stay At Home' message of Tier 5 COVID restrictions mean we have, once again, to try to reduce the number of clients visiting the practice.

Non urgent appointments will need to be postponed e.g. routine annual vaccinations (unless it has been 15 months or more since your cat was last seen), nail trims,  in clinic medication checks for flea and worm treatment etc.

First annual vaccinations, completion of vaccination courses and neutering appointments will continue as normal.

Advice for starting kitten vaccination courses will vary depending on the likely lifestyle of the kitten.

We are continuing to offer VIDEO (book here) and TELEPHONE consultations (book via reception) and would urge clients to utilise these in the first instance for minor issues or medication reviews where the animal is responding well.
If visiting the practice, clients will be encouraged to wait outside the building e.g in their own cars (though we do have a small segregated waiting room area if necessary). Clients will NOT be allowed in the consulting room still except in exceptional circumstances.

Please click here for full details.

Vets Now Emergency service will continue to be available when The Cat Clinic is closed.

We will be posting regularly on our Facebook page to keep you up to date with how COVID-19 is affecting things within the practice!

We'd like to thank all our wonderful clients for their continued co-operation & support throughout these trying times & we hope to resume normal services as soon as we possibly can.

Client Comments:

"Always excellent treatment, sympathetic and kind and I'm grateful for all your help"
"One of the main reasons I will not leave Edinburgh is that I know I won’t find a better veterinary practice elsewhere."
"The Cat Clinic in Edinburgh is simply the best cat vet I have ever used. Every consultation has been calm and time was taken to get to know our cats, not just 'sort them out', which has made a huge difference to the anxiety the cats feel during the consultation. The Veterinary Cat Clinic have provided our cats with great routine and emergency care and I cannot recommend them highly enough."
"I'm always  happy with the service I  receive, the vets listen to any concerns I might have and even though there are vets far closer to where I live now I'm sticking with these!"
