photograph of persian catTHE PERSIAN:

Appearance: Large cats with a cobby body shape. Very profuse coat that requires daily grooming. They have a characteristic flat, round face and small ears. Most colours are represented.

Temperament: Good–natured, placid although not the brightest of breeds.

Hereditary Diseases: Entropion (inturning eyelids causing the eyelashes to rub on the surface of the eye). Epiphora (over-production of tears, can be caused by blocked tear ducts). Malocclusion (misalignment of the teeth). Sinus problems (all of these are as a direct result of having a very flat face) Polycystic kidneys (fluid filled structures within the kidneys leading to eventual kidney failure). Facial fold dermatitis.
