Appearance: Most famous for their lack of a tail.
However this is not strictly true – the true Manx without
a tail is known as a “Rumpy”, but cats with varying degrees
of tail (“Risers”, Stumpies” & “Longies”) are used in the
breeding programme. In the “Rumpy” there is just a hollow
where the tail would normally begin; in the other versions,
some vertebrae are present. Most colours are allowed, but
not all associations recognise Siamese-type markings.
Temperament: Intelligent, playful.
Hereditary Diseases: Spina bifida, incomplete anal
opening, “bunny-hopping” gait.
