 THE
KORAT:
Appearance: Medium sized blue coloured cat. The Korat
has a more heart-shaped face than the Russian Blue & is altogether
a neater individual. Originally bred in the province of Korat
in north-east Thailand in the 14th century; first seen in the
West in 1896. The Korat has been described in the Cat Book Poems
as having “smooth hairs with tips like clouds & roots like silver,
& eyes that shine like dewdrops on a lotus leaf”.
Temperament: Playful.
Hereditary Diseases: Gangliosidosis (a metabolic disorder
causing abnormal deposits within body tissues)
